I am honored that the work that my publication and work I have done is now one of the top 10 most downloaded articles in Building Healthy Academic Communities; a very reputable academic journal. It really is a reflection of the issue at hand and the vulnerability of college students.
The article goes into to detail about how technology advancements have produced a variety of sites, like online dating, where college students can meet new people. The possibility of sexual assault is one significant risk associated with using internet dating. A downfall is that online dating is frequently used by sexual predators to communicate with potential victims, who may be too trusting and unknowingly end up in a situation in which their vulnerabilities increase for sexual assault.
Insights are shared on the risk factors for sexual assault, such as predatory behaviors that are often used on vulnerable populations as well as important safety advice for internet dating and suggestions for resources and reporting suspicious activity to the police.
The article is still available by download and you can click on this link to access the article for free.
This article also led to being interviewed a few times to go into a little more detail about the complexities of sexual assault among college students. Here you can access an interview from the Daily Sundial published in California.
